Jose Mourinho believes Italy's Serie A needs to look at the English Premier League's success in Asia and do a better job marketing itself.

"Abroad, people don't like the product. I'm thinking about countries in Asia where it doesn't sell much," Mourinho said at a coaches meeting in Italy on Monday. "We've got to think about that in the future."

Since taking over as coach of Inter Milan this season, Mourinho has been highly critical of the Italian game, citing small crowds and excessive attention to minor details.

The former Chelsea and FC Porto coach suggested that strategy comes ahead of spectacle in Italy.

"We Portuguese are like you Italians. It's very important to win, even in the 89th minute without putting on a great show," Mourinho said according to the ANSA news agency. "Italian football is difficult. It requires the coach to prepare a great deal.

"Against Genoa, I changed tactics three or four times and Genoa adapted every time," Mourinho added, referring to a 0-0 draw earlier this season. "For me, as a coach, it's a fantastic sight."

Still, Mourinho has already indicated he plans to return to England when his three-year contract with Inter expires.
